What is gynaecomastia?
Gynaecomastia is the enlargement of the breasts in men just like in women. As you know, the breast is a female organ and although it is dysfunctional in men, it is present as an image. Large breasts make men socially uncomfortable and they want to get rid of them. The operation to get rid of these large breasts is called gynaecomastia surgery.

Why does gynaecomastia occur?
During puberty, it is natural for men to have growth, fullness and tenderness in their breasts due to hormonal reasons. Because the body is in a hormone turmoil. If this condition, which should be temporary, becomes permanent for various reasons, it is called gynaecomastia. Men with excess weight during this period are more likely to develop gynaecomastia. Young people with gynaecomastia try to hide it by wearing loose clothes and walking hunched over. Especially in summer, they do not even swim in the sea just to hide it. Although gynaecomastia is mostly encountered as described above, sometimes unilateral or bilateral gynaecomastia may be encountered due to hormonal, tumoral causes (testicular tumour) or medications used.
