The causes of defects in the perineal region include skin cancers and traumas. Especially in diabetic (diabetic) patients, non-healing wounds are likely to occur in the perineal region. In non-healing wounds, dead tissues are removed and the tissue defect is closed with the appropriate reconstruction method (graft or flap). In patients with suspected cancer, a biopsy is taken from the lesion, it is investigated whether it affects other tissues and organ systems and the operation is planned. In some cases, the operation may have to be performed together with gynaecologists or urologists. After removal of cancerous tissue with appropriate margins, the fragment is sent to pathology during the operation. When it is confirmed that it is removed with clear margins, the defect is closed with the appropriate method. Small defects are easier to close, but in large and deep defects, local tissue or free tissue transplants are required. It should be performed by surgeons with good microsurgical experience. Patients are closely monitored after the operation, it is extremely important to keep the wound clean. If the perineum is not kept clean, reopening of the wound is inevitable. Recurrent lesions should be closely monitored.
