Wound is the inability of living tissue to maintain its structure and functional function by disrupting the integrity of the skin for various reasons. Skin is the largest organ that protects our body against external factors and provides thermal insulation. Any damage to our skin is called a wound. It is to find the causes that prevent the wound from healing, to eliminate these causes as much as possible and to provide a suitable environment for healing. The aim of wound care is to provide tissue repair as soon as possible, to correct the impaired skin structure or functional status, to prevent infection, ie germ infection, to reduce discharge and oedema, to reduce pain and to achieve the best aesthetic result. Wound care should be provided by trained physicians and allied health personnel. Otherwise, it should not be forgotten that wrong treatments that may threaten the patient’s limb and life may be performed.

In recent years, studies on wound mechanism have been intensified and many different options are offered in wound care. Today, it is known that heat and humidity are directly proportional to wound healing, and when there is sufficient heat, humidity and oxygen, the restructuring of cells in tissues accelerates. The concept of Wound Bed Preparation (WBP) stands out at the basis of current approaches in wound care. It was previously known that a good wound bed would accelerate healing and reduce bad side effects. Today, eliminating the factors that prevent wound healing and leaving the wound to heal according to its own natural process is the basis of current approaches.
